Principles of Sowing

Preacher:
Passage: II Cor 9:5-15
Service Type:

Principals of sowing

II Cor 9: 6   But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

7  Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

8  And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

9  (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

10  Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

11  Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

12  For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;

13  Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;

14  And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

15  Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Introduction:

Matt 25:24  Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25  And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26  His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27  Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28  Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29  For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

Principals of sowing

  1. The more we sow the more we reap

II Cor 9:6   But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

  1. We reap the kind we sow

II Cor 9:6  But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

Ga 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

III. There is a season to sow and a season to reap

Ec 3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

Gal 6:9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Jer 1:10  See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

  1. We need to prepare the place we sow

Ps 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

  1. We need to care for what we sow

I Cor 3:6  I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

7  So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Conclusion: If we don’t sow we will never reap

II Thess 3:8  Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:

9  Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

10  For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

11  For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

12  Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
