Kingdom of Heaven II

Matt 13:44   Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

45  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

46  Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

47  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

48  Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

49  So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

50  And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

51  Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

52  Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

53   And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

Both concerning the Kingdom of Heaven (Heaven or Hell a choice made) you choose

I . Parable of hidden treasure in a field

  A.  The field is the world not an enclosed garden

Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The gospel preached in the church is to get the people in the church to go into the fields (the world)

  B.  Jesus Christ is the true treasure

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1. One way
2. One Savior
3. One choice - Heaven or Hell

  C . The Great Treasure

1. Escape the great wrath

Matt 13:49  So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

50  And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

2. Receives great salvation

Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

II.  Parable of the Pearl of great Price

1.  Men are busy seeking wealth such as pearls

Mt 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

     2.  The merchant is the soul winner seeking to lead  souls to Christ Jesus

Pr 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Conclusion:

Matt 13:53   And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

Gen 6:3   And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Re 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
