Victory in Jesus

Preacher:
Passage: I Cor 15:53-58
Service Type:

Victory in Jesus

I Cor 15:53  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55  O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58   Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Introduction: No one wants to be a loser

I Cor 15:57  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. Be Steadfast (stay the course)

Heb 6:19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

  1. In our convictions
  2. In our lifestyle
  3. In our conduct

  1. Unmovable (hold fast) (permanently fasten)

Jer 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

1 Cor 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

Ga 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Phi 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Phi 4:1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

1 Thess 3:8 For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.

III. Always abounding in the work of the Lord (content, satisfied)

Col 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.(Enjoying the place where you called to serve)

Phi 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

1 Tim 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

  1. Work done for the Lord is not in vain

Ps 92:4 For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

2 Co 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

2 Co 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

Ga 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Conclusion:

 Mt 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

1 Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
