We Must Believe

Preacher:
Passage: Acts 13:32-39
Service Type:

We Must Believe

Acts 13:32  And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

33  God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

34  And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

35  Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

36  For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

37  But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

38  Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

39  And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Introduction: The hardest thing we have to do is believe

Mt 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Mr 6:6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

Mr 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen

 I.  We must believe there is one true God

Ge 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

II.  We must believe He made all things including us

John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Col 1:16  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

III. We must believe He is the author of salvation

  1. The virgin birth

Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

       2.   His perfect life

2 Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

       3.  The Cross

1 Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

       4.  The blood to take away sin

Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

       5.  His resurrection

Mr 16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

       6.  His return to Heaven and His promise to come again

Ac 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Conclusion: It DOES matter what and in whom you believe

Ac 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
