Things that Accompany Salvation

Things that Accompany Salvation

Hebrews 6:9   But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

Col 1:1    Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,

2  To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3   We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

4  Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,

5  For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

6  Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

What should accompany Salvation?

Ye must be born again

Leadership: Leaders should lead by example

Leaders: SS teachers, workers, board members

Introduction:  After salvation we should have a spiritual outlook on all things. We should be a changed people (We can be righteous and not be spiritual. We need the righteousness of Jesus not our own)

I Cor 2:12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

  1. After salvation we should have spiritual desire for the things of God
  2. His Church
  3. A consistent prayer life
  4. To study His word
  5. To have a testimony
  6. To win lost people to Christ
  7. To be an encouragement to other Christians
  8. To have fellowship with God, Jesus Christ, by confessing our sins

  1. After Salvation We should have a different set of moral values

Prov 14:34   Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Job 8:13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish:

Ps 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Eph 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

III. After Salvation we should not be worldly and materialistic

1 Jo 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Psm 37:4  Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5  Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6  And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Conclusion: It will cost you something to be the Christian God wants you to be

John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

  1. It will cost you friends
  2. It may cost you promotions
  3. It may cost you money
  4. It will cost you some of your time
  5. It may cost you giving up plans you have made
  6. It may cost you making a move or job change
  7. But it will never cost you the joy and peace of the Lord
  8. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth; give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
