God Is Love

I John 4:7  Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

 

Introduction: God loves us no matter what we do or don’t do

                     God knows how to handles hard cases

I.  Adam & Eve disobeyed

Gen 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

 

Gen. 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

 

II.  Aaron built a golden calf but was made the high priest

 Exodus 32

 III. Peter was a fisherman turned evangelist

Matt. 4:19  And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

 IV.  Mark - disagreed with Paul but was restored

Acts 15:36-16:15  -  disagreements

Acts 12:25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.

 V.  David was a shepherd and became king

II Sam 5:4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

 VI.  Paul was a persecutor who became a martyr and missionary

Women:

I.  Rahab was a harlot who became a heroine

Joshua 2:1-7

 II.  Pilate’s wife

Matt 27:19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

III. Mary Magdalene was a demon possessed women who was the 1st to see the resurrected Jesus

Mark 16:9.  Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

IV.  Mary was a virgin but mothered Jesus

Luke 2:11-17

 V.  Sarah laughed but God still gave her a child

Gen. 18:13 And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?

 14 Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

 

 Conclusion:

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
