Man is Unique

Passage: Ps 139:1-15
Service Type:

Man is unique

Psalms 139:1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Man is Unique

Psalms 139:14  I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Man is unique in many ways:

Each person has 60,000 to 1000,000 blood vessels

The average human has 2,000 – 4,000 taste buds

A person can produce enough saliva to fill 2 bathtubs each year

Your heart beats 100,000 times a day

Your body has more than 600 muscles

I.  God knew you before you were born

Jer. 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Is 44:24 Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

II.  God makes all of us special and different

Including autistic children, children with Down syndrome, or any other disability

We all have different weaknesses and strengths

Ps 139:15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Luke 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

 Ways we are alike:

  1.  We all are imperfect

Romans 10:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 10:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Ecc. 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

2.  We all are valuable

Is 43:4a  Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee:

3.  We all are afraid of something

Psalm 34:4  I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Ways we are different:

Hobbies

Personality

Goals

III.  God loves all of us

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I John  3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

I John 4:9  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Conclusion: Our main purpose is to glorify God

Is 43:7  Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

Ps. 86:12 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.

Matt. 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
